The 2021 Prize, eighth year: DISABILITY AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

ELEANOR WORTHINGTON PRIZE – eighth year

The Eleanor Worthington Prize on Art and Disability is open to all students at tertiary-level Art and Media Schools in the UK, Ireland, and Italy. No entry fee is payable. All Visual Art forms are admitted.
The Prize is run by the Associazione Premio Eleanor Worthington-ODV, a non-profit  organisation based in Urbino, Italy, in keeping with its aims and philosophy.

THE THEME FOR 2021
 is “DISABILITY AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION”

HOW TO ENTER
Entries should include:

- the submitted work’s title
- one or more photographs or videos of the work, anonymised
- an audio description of the work, anonymised
- a statement of the entrant’s name, which tertiary Institution the entrant is enrolled in and in which year of the course.

Entries by more than one eligible author are accepted, but the prize remains unchanged, and would have to be shared among the authors.

All entries should be submitted in digital form only, by WETRANSFER, to tertiary@premioeleanor.it by 14 November 2021 (see Technical Specifications below).

Entering the Prize implies acceptance of the rules.
      
THE PRIZES
The winners of the 2021 Prize will be announced at
www.premioeleanor.it

First, second and third prizes will be awarded. At each level (first, second and third) there is one prize for a student from Italian institutions, and one prize for a student from British or Irish institutions.

For students from British or Irish institutions, the prizes are as follows:
- the first prize consists in 500 Euros or, if preferred, in one week’s board and lodging in a Hall of Residence of the University of Urbino, Italy, or in York, in spring or summer 2022. In this latter case, a contribution will also be made to travel costs to Italy or York;

- the second prize consists in 300 Euros offered by the Urbino local authority;

- the third prize consists in art books.

The special Mark Bailey prize, equivalent to a first prize, is reserved for students enrolled in an institution in the city of York (UK).

PRIZE-GIVING EVENT AND EXHIBITION
The prize giving event will take place in Sala Convegni of the Ducal Palace of Urbino on 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, if the situation allows.
Should it be impossible to hold the prize giving event in a public place, an online event will be organized, with details to be published on the Prize’s website.
During the prize giving event all entries will be displayed in digital form. Subsequently, all works will be shown in a digital exhibition in Italy, and selected works will be displayed in public galleries in the UK.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The different files constituting an entry should be compressed into a single .zip or .rar folder.
All submitted works must have a title. They can also optionally be accompanied by a short statement of their “concept” (max 400 characters, spaces and punctuation included). All concepts must be in .doc or .docx format.
All submitted works must have a separate audio description, either in English or in Italian, to last no more than 2 minutes, and in MP3 format.

EVALUATION
The panel of judges will have access only to the anonymized digital form for all submitted works.

Evaluation of the works will use five criteria:

Relevance to the theme
Communicative effectiveness
Originality
Overall impression
Quality of the audio description
